Wild PEaches and Sparkling Wine...

The dream of something unlikely has its own special name. It's called hope. Yet our courage for life's journey so often falters because we've lost our hope for heaven.

We abandon the most important journey of our lives when we abandon desire. We leave our hearts by the side of the road and head off in the direction of fitting in, getting by, being productive, what have you. Whatever we might gain - money, position, the approval of others, or just the absence of the discontent itself - it's not worth it. " What good will it be for the man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? " (Matt 16:26 NIV)

(John Eldredge in The Journey of Desire)

I'm having trouble fitting this in what Paul said in Philippians 4:11.. to be content in whatever state i'm in. But what John Eldredge wrote evoked something inside me.. though i can't define it yet. It makes me wonder if i dare to believe.. that there is something amazingly beautiful out there that i've not yet acknowledged... that my life can be so much more than what i can comprehend now. Too many people live out their lives by 'getting by'. I'm afraid that i'll become like that. There must be something more to life... and i'm gonna try to find it.
